Packaged whispering gallery resonator device based on an optical nanoantenna coupler

In this work, we present a packaged whispering gallery mode (WGM) device based on an optical nanoantenna as the coupler and glass microsphere resonator. The microspheres were fabricated from either SiO 2 fiber or Er 3+ -doped fiber, latter creating WGM laser with threshold of 93 µ W at 1531 nm. coupler-resonator was in capillary. performance microlaser characterized, lasing emission both excited collected cavity via nanoantenna. system provides isolation environmental contamination, small size, unidirectional coupling while maintaining high quality (Q-) factor (∼10 8 ).
